PACRA Takes Action on PK Chishala’s Music Copyright; ZAMCOPS Reactivates Mandate
The Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) has shown interest in addressing copyright infringement concerns related to the late Kalindula legend PK Chishala‘s music. PACRA urges exploited artists to file complaints with the agency for potential action.
In response to these developments, the Zambia Music Copyright Protection Society (ZAMCOPS), which had been relatively quiet about the unauthorized use of music without paying royalties, has stated that its mandate to protect against copyright infringements in public performances is still active.
Harriet Banda Chishala, PK Chishala‘s wife, shared her struggles to reclaim the copyright ownership of her late husband’s music and highlighted the challenges faced by the legend’s children due to a lack of support from their father’s intellectual property.
This marks a shift in addressing copyright issues in the Zambian music industry, potentially offering better protection for artists and their creative works.
